Twenty-four- years old Alana Seebarran was crowned Miss Guyana India Worldwide when the pageant concluded at the Princess Hotel, Providence, East Bank Demerara early Sunday morning.
Sponsored by the NEW GPC INC. the stunning beauty, who hails from Kitty, Georgetown outshone her eight rivals to cop the crown after an intense four hour of competition. As expected, from the beginning, Seebarran was the crowd’s favorite to win the keenly-contested competition. The ladies competed in the evening gown, Indian wear, talent and intelligence segments. In response to the earthquake disaster in Haiti, NEW GPC INC. pledges G$8,000,000.00 in the form of Pharmaceutical and Medical supplies to the Guyana Relief Fund for Haiti. The items donated include: Anti-biotic, Cough and Cold Expectorants, Pain relievers, Burn Cure Creams and Pampers among many others. | Flood Relief 2005 |
In 2005, the citizens of Guyana benefitted greatly from NEW GPC`s expeditious preparedness. This readiness stemmed from the company`s pre-stocking of medical supplies/raw materials and the company`s aptitude building in earlier years. The company responded with the vital medicines during that difficult period, which also included the importation of additional necessitated pharmaceuticals on a timely basis.
Some of the essential medicines produced were for dehydration, vomiting and diarrhea, respiratory problems and various skin conditions. Additionally, NEW GPC INC. also supplied other pharmaceuticals which included doxycycline (used as a prophylaxis for leptospirosis), antibiotics, cottons wool, gauze, gloves, syringes and much more.

In 2004, NEW GPC INC. initiated the manufacture of micronutrient sprinkles which are used to reduce the incidence of anemia in both infants and pregnant women. Through the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with NEW GPC INC., sprinkles are being distributed nationwide.
