
Twenty-four- years old Alana Seebarran was crowned Miss Guyana India Worldwide when the pageant concluded at the Princess Hotel, Providence, East Bank Demerara early Sunday morning.
Sponsored by the NEW GPC INC. the stunning beauty, who hails from Kitty, Georgetown outshone her eight rivals to cop the crown after an intense four hour of competition. As expected, from the beginning, Seebarran was the crowd’s favorite to win the keenly-contested competition. The ladies competed in the evening gown, Indian wear, talent and intelligence segments.
The newly crowned queen enjoys dancing, listening to music, spending time with her family, especially her brothers, shopping, reading and most importantly, has a passion for fashion.
Seebarran, a junior manager at a reputable company, is a final year student at York University in Canada, majoring in marketing. She wants to become an entrepreneur in the near future.
Seebarran, in her winning response, said an empowered woman should have compassion, strength and vulnerability and feels that these attributes comprised a woman and can be nurtured.
The new queen will represent Guyana at the Miss India Worldwide pageant in Suriname on February 25, 2012. She also won a return trip to Mumbai, India, as well as a cash prizes and a four year University of Guyana scholarship.
The judging panel for the evening includes Miss Femina India 2004 and Miss Universe tops 10 delegate Tanushree Dutta. Also on the panel was film maker Mukesh Tyagi, Liz Cox, Nicola Pierre and Marcelle Veer Seechand.
